What our students say

My teacher is an amazing teacher and makes the subject so fun and enjoyable to learn. (Year 13 student 2019)

I enjoyed Biology because of the small classes, the opportunities to learn in a different environment. The teachers really focus on getting everything across to students until they are 100% sure with the topic. â€‹(Year 13 student 2019)

Although I originally chose this subject to 'fill a gap', I came to like and understand more about the subject. My teacher was always willing to help me in his spare time. (Year 13 student 2019)

All the teachers are lovely and gave me my love of reading and writing - teaches you so much about not only English but every subject. â€‹(Year 13 student 2019)

"Personally English Lit and Lan was the best and most memorable for me. I chose this as my first option because I always had a passion for writing and studying this at BCHS took me a step closer to my dream which I’m thankful for. During the two years, I got to know my English teachers really well and I owe it to them to say that they have not only been the best but also very supportive when it came to my flaws within the subject. Everyday I would look forward to each lesson as my teachers did their best to bring our creativity to life. I relished each practical lessons we had whilst reading our chosen books for this subject. Thank you to my two teachers. You both are amazing." (Year 13 student 2019)

A fun subject with a deeper look into film history and the film industry. (Year 13 student 2019)

The films that you get to study are amazing. Film Studies helped me understand how media is used to push certain ideologies in today's society. (Year 13 student 2019)

Really interesting subject. You will never watch a film in the same way once you have taken this subject. I took the subject because I wanted to learn what was behind Hollywood. â€‹(Year 13 student 2019)

What our students say

My favourite subject in school was History. I entered sixth form believing that would be my least favoured subject, but found through the help of my teachers, I really enjoyed the subject and the different parts of History. (Year 13 student 2019)

BCHS sixth form has very good resources and teacher's that all have in-depth knowledge on a wide variety of time periods, excellent. (Year 13 student 2019)

Easily the best subject I took at BCHS sixth form. The parts of History that you study are really interesting, especially Tsarist Russia. The humanities department simply have great teachers, who help and care for you, not just when it comes to your subjects but with your wellbeing. â€‹(Year 13 student 2019)

History is a brilliant subject to choose at A level. The knowledge of the teachers and support offered is outstanding. â€‹(Year 13 student 2019)

I chose History A level as I really enjoyed this at GCSE. The History department always went the extra mile to make sure we all got the most out of our studies. (Year 13 student 2019)

What our students say

I chose Psychology because I was excited to delve into content that was relevant to my career aspirations, such as forensics, attachment and cognition and development. This is another reason why Psychology is a good A Level to choose. Its versatility means it is a beneficial qualification to take you into any field. The excellent teaching makes the course easy to study. (Year 13 student 2019)

I decided to take Psychology not knowing much about this subject and ended up being one of my easiest subjects, due to the teaching and constant help. I felt secure knowing I would receive a good grade. (Year 13 student 2019)

I chose this subject because the science of human behaviours is fascinating and links to everyday life. My teacher is such a supportive teacher and it was never a stressful subject because she is so amazingly organised. â€‹(Year 13 student 2019)

Psychology is a great subject. The standard of teaching from my teacher is excellent. The subject teaches the elements that you can apply in the real world. (Year 13 student 2019)

Psychology A level was my favourite subject at sixth form. Psychology was really interesting and engaging, which allowed me to explore my future career choice even further. My teacher was so kind, caring and always went the extra mile to make sure we received the help and support we needed. (Year 13 student 2019)

"Psychology was a new experience for me as I never studied it before A level. My teacher made me wish I could go back in time and change that. Having Miss Gosling as my psychology teacher was an honour, thanks to her I was able to enjoy learning this subject considering the fact that I knew nothing at the begging. she was very attentive and understanding with me. The reason I decided to study psychology was because of my later formed interest and because it linked with my first subject really well allowing me to use what I learned from one subject to another. My teacher is a good-natured teacher thanks to her I went from the lowest point to the highest I can be in a short amount of time." (Year 13 student 2019)
