BCHS students mark International Women in Engineering Day with a visit to Ford's Dunton

On Friday 22nd June 10 year 9 girls from Brentwood County High School visited Ford's Dunton Headquarters to take part in International Women in Engineering Day.

After introductions students were able to tour the site and participate in activities including being driven in prototype cars around the test track to see how engines are calibrated. Additionally they had a visit to NVH and the environmental testing lab where they experienced temperatures of -45 degrees celsius. Afternoon activities involved programming robots, working on a production line to improve our team work and a virtual reality experience. Finally they took part in in a marketing activity and listened to a range of speakers.

One female student reported “Overall, the day was extremely interesting and enjoyable.  It was a fantastic insight into the career opportunities that engineering could provide.

Mrs. A Hughes, Executive Headteacher said “we are delighted to be involved in projects related to International Women in Engineering Day and to promote this as a career to our students.”
