Some children need additional help and support during their education, either temporarily or throughout their time at school. Brentwood County High School is committed to providing this support, both by using resources within the school and, where appropriate, working closely with external agencies. Central to this support is the Learning Support Team, which is made up of the Special Educational Needs Department and a range of other staff in order to embrace the spirit and reality of inclusive education.


Support for students with Special Educational Needs is mainly provided by Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants in the classroom, strengthened by intervention work in small groups outside the classroom or on a one-to-one basis, where relevant. The Learning Support Team work closely with other staff in the school to ensure that students' additional needs are known by all staff and that appropriate teaching and support are provided in all subjects.
