The school wishes to minimize the time which children spend out of school because we value school and learning time. Suspensions will, therefore, be used sparingly and restricted to serious or persistent breaches of school discipline.

RATIONALE

  • Suspension from school is used as a sanction for serious or repeated breaches of school discipline.
  • Suspensions are used sparingly; alternative sanctions are considered and used whenever they are more appropriate.
  • Permanent suspension will be used only as a last resort and when allowing the child to remain in school would be seriously detrimental to the education or welfare of the students, or that of others at school, or where this would seriously undermine the good discipline of the school.
