Frontline Living History visit BCHS

Year 10 history students attended a talk by the Frontline Living History group who focused on World War 1 as the fighting and medical treatment of injuries on the Western Front is now a focus on one of their exam papers.  There were different sessions with presentations from our staff and guests, David Alton and Richard Townsley, from Frontline Living History.  In the Frontline Living History session students were given the opportunity to handle artefacts and weapons.  They were shown slides of the conditions that soldiers fought in and were told about the problems there were with infection and illness.  Staff ran sessions recapping on the war and focusing on the exam itself.

Mr Callender, Head of School said “This gave our pupils an outstanding opportunity to see history brought to life and get a taste of what life was really like many years ago.”
