Upper School

Upper school includes key stage 4 and key stage 5 students. These students are grouped together in upper school forms, where they have the opportunity to explore study skills, careers, PSHE, life skills and life beyond BCHS. Students receive mentoring from their Tutors and there are ample enrichment opportunities for our students, including TEDx talks, Sports Societies and trip days. We also promote participation in house activities to show that not only academic success is celebrated.

Our upper school staff consists of myself, Sabrina Walker. I am the director of learning for upper school and oversea the academic leaders (Kieran Walker: Year 11, Constance Hayes: Year 12 and Andy Rayner: Year 13). These academic leaders are in place to ensure that students are given the best opportunities to achieve their academic potential. They monitor the progress of students through the year and provide support and interventions as required. In addition to these leaders, upper school has a success leader, Louise Cole, who is responsible for the pastoral and behavioural side of life for students.

We are fortunate to have Lauren Forde working in our Upper School Team.  She is our Enrichment Leader and does everything from organising the careers convention, supporting with college, UCAS, apprenticeship and job applications to organising TED talks and our popular Sports Societies that range from West Ham Academy Football sessions to Debate Society.

Should you have any administration queries, Jacqui Coultish is our upper school administrator who is happy to provide answers to questions you may have.

The upper school team are proud to lead students in this crucial time in their lives.
