Our Pathway to Success
We have decided that some subjects are best learned by allowing students to apply the skills used practically (with BTEC) and others through a more traditional academic qualification (A-level). This means that students can now choose A-levels and BTECs in combination. BTEC and Alevel courses are all level 3 qualifications and both result in UCAS points.
To gain access onto our courses, students need to achieve 5 A*-C at GCSE (this includes level 5 and above for English and Maths). Some courses require grade B in a relevant qualification but the majority require a grade C in a relevant qualification. As we switch to the new GCSE grades we are using grade 5 as an equivalent to grade C and 6 as an equivalent to grade 7..
All students will begin year 12 studying four subjects, one from each of our four option blocks.
All students will begin Y12 studying their four subjects. Students will be given a number of opportunities throughout year 12 to decide which of their three subjects to continue with and complete at the end of year 13. We will not be doing AS exams in any subjects. In order to continue to study their three subjects in Year 13, students will need to pass their Progression exams in May.
